Privacy First Commitment: TravelGauge is designed with your privacy as the top priority. All your data stays on your device. We don't collect, store, or share any of your personal information.

1. Information We Collect

The short answer: None.

TravelGauge does not collect, transmit, or store any personal information on external servers. All data is stored locally on your device.

Data Stored Locally on Your Device:

Expense Records: Amounts, categories, dates, and notes you enter
Receipt Photos: Images you capture using the app's camera feature
Trip Information: Currency preferences, budget settings, and cash amounts
Location Data: If you enable travel detection, your location is used only to detect when you're traveling (never transmitted to us)
Usage Information: Trial period tracking (stored in device Keychain)

2. How We Use Your Information

Since all data is stored locally on your device:

Expense Tracking: To display your spending history and calculate remaining cash
Receipt Scanning: OCR processing happens on-device using Apple's Vision framework
Location Services: Only used to detect when you're traveling (if you enable this feature)
Currency Conversion: Exchange rates are fetched from public APIs and cached locally

3. Data Sharing

We do not share any of your data with third parties.

Period. Your data never leaves your device except:

Currency Exchange Rates: Fetched from frankfurter.app (European Central Bank data) - no personal data sent
In-App Purchases: Handled entirely by Apple via StoreKit - we never see your payment information

4. Third-Party Services

Apple Services (Required for App Functionality):

StoreKit: For in-app purchases (managed by Apple, not us)
Vision Framework: For OCR receipt scanning (on-device only)
CoreLocation: For travel detection (on-device only)
AVFoundation: For text-to-speech in Quick Phrases (on-device only)

External API (Optional):

Frankfurter API (frankfurter.app): Used only for fetching currency exchange rates. No personal data is transmitted. Works offline after initial fetch.

5. Data Security

Your data security is built into the app's design:

✅ Local Storage Only: All data stored in your device's secure storage
✅ No Cloud Sync: Your data never leaves your device
✅ No Accounts: No username, password, or email required
✅ Protected by iOS: Your device's security (Face ID, passcode) protects the app
✅ Keychain Security: Trial information stored in iOS Keychain (encrypted)

6. Camera & Photo Library Access

Why we need camera access:

To scan receipts and extract expense amounts using OCR
Receipt photos are saved locally on your device
Never uploaded to any server

You control this: You can deny camera access and still use all other features. You can revoke access anytime in iOS Settings.

7. Location Services

Why we request location access (optional):

To detect when you're traveling (50+ km from home)
To send helpful reminders to track expenses
All processing happens on your device
Your location is never transmitted to us or any third party

You control this: Location services are completely optional. The app works perfectly without location access.

8. Children's Privacy

TravelGauge is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children. If you are a parent and believe your child has provided information through the app, please contact us.

9. Your Rights

Since all data is stored locally on your device, you have complete control:

Access: You can view all your data within the app
Export: Export your data as CSV or PDF anytime
Delete: Delete individual expenses or reset your entire trip
Uninstall: Deleting the app removes all local data

10. International Data Transfers

Not applicable. Since your data never leaves your device, there are no international data transfers.

11. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by:

Updating the "Last Updated" date at the top
Posting the new Privacy Policy on this page
Notifying you within the app (for significant changes)

Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

12. Data Retention

Since we don't collect data:

All data remains on your device until you delete it
Uninstalling the app deletes all local data (except Keychain)
Keychain data (trial tracking) persists to prevent trial abuse

13. Analytics & Tracking

We do not use any analytics or tracking services.

No Google Analytics
No Facebook Pixel
No advertising networks
No user behavior tracking
No crash reporting services
